  19thCentury ABORIGINAL FIGHTING CLUB

This rare, very heavy, and very unusual shaped fighting club was aquired by a missionary in the Cape York area at the top of Australia in the 1920's, and was apparently quite old then. The club has a pick like head and is made out of one solid heavy piece of wood and has obviously been hand made probably with stone tools and shell scrapers. The tip of the striking edge is quite sharp almost like an axe head and there is natural resin along part of the top edge for some reason (maybe an Aboriginal repair) Overall condition is very good with a few hairline age cracks in evidence. The length is just over 16"
