This great old Western Desert shield shows extensive use as a tool and a weapon as there are numerous strike marks (from its use as a shield to defend against fighting clubs and boomerangs) all over the face. The handle was obviously broken during use and the shield was subsequently discarded. There is extensive fluting all over the front and back of the shield but is hard to discern due to the age and extensive use this piece has seen. A wonderful original and used tribal shield. Size of this large shield is 27" * 9 1/2"
