A pair of giant clamshell bracelets which were collected in the late 1940's by an Australian malaria control officer who was working mainly around Bouganville and New Britain and nearby islands. The one with the fluting has been repaired and is from Nissan island and the other bracelet is from Pinipel Island. These rare items are extremely hard to find as the native people used to keep these in the family for generations. Diameter of each is roughly 3".
