Interesting ancestor mask collected in the mid 1960's. It has been modelled in mud on a wooden base and has shell eyes and tusks through the nose with a natural rattan beard. Apart from one shell missing from the cheek and a few around the mouth the shellwork is all intact although nearly all the cassowary feather hair above the shell line has disappeared. Overall a very attractive mask. Size of face is 13 1/2" by 7" wide.
