This mask from New Guinea features a lovely frog on the chin which is unusual in that frogs are very rarely incorporated into masks. As can be seen the natural bushvine beard is thinning in places but the shellwork is largely intact. The piece appears to be quite old and is very heavy with an aged dark appearance and was collected in 1961. It is a beautiful looking mask and has been painted in natural ochres.The overall size is 24" * 9". PRICE: $275USD |
